What sessions look like
Sessions are virtual — held by secure video — so couples and families anywhere in Ontario and across Canada can connect without needing to arrange childcare or commute. Both partners can join from the same space or from separate locations.
The work is structured and skills-based. We slow down the patterns that keep conflict going, practice new ways of communicating, and build repair tools you can use between sessions. The goal isn't to eliminate disagreement — it's to handle it in ways that bring you closer rather than further apart.
Frameworks drawn from
- Gottman Method principles (the 4 Horsemen, repair attempts)
- Non-Violent Communication (NVC)
- Attachment-informed relational work
- Emotion-focused communication strategies
- Psychoeducation about conflict cycles
What you can expect to gain
- Calmer, more productive conversations
- A shared toolkit for handling conflict and repair
- Greater understanding of each other's needs and triggers
- Renewed sense of being a team
- More safety and warmth in the relationship day to day

Meet Suhaila →Frequently asked questions
Do both people in the relationship need to attend sessions?
It helps when both people are willing to participate, but a free consultation can help clarify what format makes the most sense for your situation. Individual sessions focused on relationship patterns are also an option.
Is relationship coaching only for couples?
No. Relationship coaching at Ubuntu Consulting is available to couples, co-parents, families, and individuals working through relationship patterns. If you are unsure whether your situation fits, book a free consultation to find out.
How is relationship coaching different from couples therapy?
Relationship coaching at Ubuntu Consulting draws on evidence-informed communication and conflict-resolution frameworks. It is practical, goal-focused, and skills-based. It differs from registered psychotherapy in that it is not a clinical treatment for mental health conditions. Suhaila Ali holds an MA in Applied Psychology and will refer to clinical therapy if that is a better fit.
Is virtual relationship coaching available across Ontario and Canada?
Yes. All sessions are held by secure video, so couples and families anywhere in Ontario and across Canada can access support without needing to travel.
